WATER SERVICE REQUESTS-NEW/CHANGE
IF YOU ARE CHANGING PROPERTY OWNERSHIP:
In order to receive water service YOU must be a shareholder within the San Antonio Water Company. A Water Account Application needs to be filled out by the NEW shareholder in order for an account to be opened.
During any property ownership change, there should be a stock transfer involved. You must have the original stock certificate or "Lost Instrument Bond" signed off and notarized by all named parties, pay a transfer fee and complete the above water account application in order to fulfill all of the requirements to change ownership on a water account. For more instruction see Water Service Account and Water Stock Transfer Instructions.
IF YOUR CHANGING THE INFORMATION ON YOUR WATER BILL:
All requests to change information on a water bill must be in writing. Only the individual(s) named on the water stock certificate are able to alter the information on the water bill. If you have a renter/lessor, the bill can be put “in care of” (c/o) the renter/lessor but the shareholder’s name will remain on the bill as well. The renter/lessor is not able to put their name on, or take their name off of the water bill. This must be done by the shareholder in writing.
FOR ANY NEW DEVELOPMENT:
A Water Serve Request Application is needed.
When submitting a Water Service Request Application you must provide the following along with the application: Plot/site plans, landscape/irrigation plans, and annual water consumption indoor/outdoor with backup (all plans should be exactly what you would be turning into the county for permits).
After the Water Service Request Application is approved, a “Willingness to Serve Letter” will be sent to the shareholder/applicant with a copy to the County of San Bernardino. Once a “Will Serve Letter” is produced, the next step would be to pay the applicable fees to have a new service line installed. (Please refer to Water Fees and Charges).
