Upland native Gino L. Filippi is a retired winery owner, marketing/business development consultant and wine writer. He was elected to the Upland City Council in November 2010, and re-elected in 2014. He served as Mayor Pro-Tem in 2017. Gino is a current Board member on San Antonio Water Company, and Chino Basin Watermaster.
Director Filippi is a fourth-generation vintner and remains active preserving our region's wine heritage. In 1995, the U.S. Department of Treasury approved "Cucamonga Valley" an American Viticultural Area (AVA), as a result of a petition written and filed by Gino on behalf of local growers and vintners. Since 1996, his column "Off the Vine" has published in newspapers including Foothills Reader / L.A. Times. He is a regional expert on the history of Southern California viticulture and a leader in preserving its rich history and culture for others to enjoy.
